What to Expect From a 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV

What to Expect From a 2025 Mazda CX-90 PHEV

Spacious Comfort

At 201.6 inches long, this Mazda PHEV has room for up to eight people, giving those in the first row 41.7 inches of legroom, those in the second row 39.4 inches, and kids in the rear seats 30.4 inches. Standard three-zone climate control helps to ensure that everyone is as warm or as cool as they'd like. However, there are some additional benefits to being up toward the front. The Premium Plus trim has heated and ventilated front seating, as well as heated second-row seats.

Expansive cargo room is another benefit of this vehicle. While there are up to 15.9 cubic feet of storage space when all of the seats are in use, the third row is made up of 60/40-split seats, so you can expand your storage area as needed. In total, you can access up to 75.2 cubic feet. The Mazda CX-90 is available with seven or eight seats; models with the former configuration have slightly more cargo capacity.

Impressive Mazda CX-90 PHEV MPG and Other Specs

If you're in the habit of scanning every road you see to check gas prices, then this SUV can give you a chance to rest and enjoy longer stretches between stops at the pump. It produces an EPA-estimated 56 MPGe (Combined),1 as well as 323 total system horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, from its e-SkyActiv®-G PHEV 2.5-liter engine and 68-kW electric motor.

The Mazda CX-90 PHEV SUV's electric-only range helps you pass by gas station after gas station. You can travel approximately 26 miles2 at a time without draining a drop of gas from your fuel tank. While you can use the MyMazda App to find public charging stations when you're on the go, many drivers regularly charge their SUVs from the comfort of their own homes, where plugging their vehicle into their ChargePoint® unit in their garage fits seamlessly into their daily routine.

Sport, Off-Road, and EV Modes come standard in this SUV to help you tackle different driving challenges, with a Tow Mode available for a better hauling experience. Should you want to know more about 2025 Mazda CX-90 PHEV specs or how to equip your car to take advantage of its 3,500-pound towing capacity,3 please contact our team today.

The version of this SUV with the lowest MSRP is known as the PHEV Preferred. It could be easy to mistake it for a higher-level trim, however, because it comes with:

  • Power sliding glass moonroof
  • Greige or Black leather seats
  • 12.3-inch full-color center display
  • Eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat with power lumbar support
  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob
  • Heated front seats
  • Heated side mirrors
  • Eight-speaker audio system
  • 12.3-inch fully digital LCD Meter Display
  • Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go

Above this tier are the Premium Sport and Premium Plus trim levels, which can upgrade your experience with wireless smartphone integration, the Mazda Navigation System, a hands-free power liftgate, additional driver-assistance technology, and a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM® Satellite Radio.4 You also get access to more paint colors: Artisan Red Premium and Sonic Silver Metallic.

Similar But Different

This model is the same length as the Mazda CX-90 PHEV, allowing your family to enjoy an equal amount of legroom in the first and second rows. The Mazda CX-70 PHEV specs are also familiar. It produces 56 MPGe,1 has a 26-mile Mazda CX-70 PHEV electric-only range,2 and has a 3,500-pound towing capacity.3 Like its sibling vehicle, it comes with standard paddle shifters for a smoother, sportier driving experience.

However, it offers two trims – the Premium and Premium Plus – instead of three, with more luxurious standard features. For example, all versions of the Mazda CX-70 PHEV come with a wireless phone charger, a 12-speaker Bose® premium sound system, and an Active Driving Display with Traffic Sign Recognition.

There are also slight variances in cargo capacity, since you don't have to worry about folding down an extra row of seats in this model, but it essentially has the same storage area. You should be able to fit large items, or several medium-sized moving boxes, into your SUV fairly easily.

Mazda PHEV Charging

Mazda PHEV SUVs' charging times are astoundingly quick. You can charge either 2025 Mazda PHEV from 20% to 80% in under seven hours using a Level 1 charging cable plugged into any common 120-volt outlet.5 This means you could even charge your car from your friends' or relatives' garages if you wanted to.

However, most people prefer faster Level 2 charging, which can get you the same results in one hour and 30 minutes.5 You can check the status of your vehicle's charge from your MyMazda app and even use the program to start its charging sequence remotely.

When you stop by our Mazda dealership in Gilbert, AZ, to discuss PHEV ownership and leasing, we'll connect you with our partner, Qmerit, which performs the installation services for these charging stations. It's worth noting that, as of this writing, there is no Mazda PHEV tax credit for these SUVs, but there are opportunities to get a tax credit for your PHEV's charging equipment.6

Given the speed of the Mazda PHEV charge time, you might think all plug-in hybrids respond as quickly, but that's not the case. Consider the Volvo XC90 PHEV, that brand's three-row PHEV – it takes five hours to charge fully using a Level 2 wallbox.7
